About this role

The Field Deployment Technician is the essential on-site presence responsible for the successful physical installation, configuration, and integration of client IT and security systems. This role is highly hands-on and requires strong technical skills in cabling, networking, and hardware setup, including the deployment of security solutions like Verkada cameras and access control. You will be a crucial interface between our technical team and the client's physical environment, ensuring all systems are installed to the highest standards of quality and functionality.

What you’ll do

  • Perform professional on-site installation, cabling, and mounting of networking gear, IT hardware, and security devices (e.g., cameras, access points, sensors).
  • Execute the configuration and testing of physical security systems, including Verkada devices, ensuring seamless integration with the client's network and our management platform.
  • Travel to client locations to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and connectivity issues that cannot be fixed remotely.
  • Document all installation procedures, network configurations, and physical security layouts accurately for client records and internal knowledge bases.
  • Collaborate closely with the Remote Support and Systems Engineering teams to ensure new deployments meet all infrastructure and security specifications.
  • Manage inventory of deployment tools and materials, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing project delays.
  • Provide clear and professional communication to clients regarding project timelines, installation status, and system training upon completion.

Requirements

  • Proven professional experience in low-voltage cabling, hardware installation, and field service or deployment roles.
  • Strong practical knowledge of networking basics (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi configuration, switching/routing) as they relate to hardware installation.
  • Demonstrated experience installing security systems, surveillance cameras (IP cameras), or access control hardware is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively for mounting and infrastructure work.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage installation projects independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as frequent travel to various client sites is required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, capable of interacting professionally with clients while on-site.
  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, vendor-specific training) are a plus.
